Leland's Two!

Leland's Two!

Wow what a fun day! We started the day off signing Happy Birthday to Leland, received well wishes via phone calls and let him open gifts from family who sent them in the mail. Leland was so excited and definitely learned how to open presents this year. I remember last year teaching him how to pull back on tape, but today he needed no direction. He sure learned quick and loves opening "pesnts," as he calls them.

Later in the morning his birthday party was so awesome! We could not have asked for a better group of friends to spend time with us! We're so lucky to have such a great community of mamas, daddies and little ones. Instead of a traditional party for the birthday boy, I organized a Play Date and Book & Toy Exchange! We kept it simple. We drank homemade Jungle gym juice, munched on toddler trail mix, and of course sang and has a "2" candle to go with the homemade strawberry vanilla cupcakes with fresh raspberries on top! Thankfully the parents sipped on Starbucks coffee to keep up with all of their fun, energetic little ones.

For the Exchange, Leland's friends brought some toys &/or books they've grown out of, or are less interested in anymore and had the opportunity to trade them for other toys & books! This way everyone received "new" things to enjoy when they found something they liked.  At the end of the party we gathered the unclaimed toys and will be donating them to the local non-profit organization Alpha Monday morning. The organization helps pregnant moms and babies up to age two. They do such great work I just know the moms and babies will be so happy with the donation from our generous friends!

What a great day we had! We love you little one! Cheers to being TWOOOOOOOOO!
